"Love Thai" Festivals, Eschweiler

"Love Thai" Festivals, Eschweiler

I was with some friends at “Love Thai” festival in Eschweiler last Saturday. It was organized open-aired at Driesplatz , Indesstrasse. Nr.20 where I had to drive about half an hour on the highway from Heerlen. It was a lovely sunny day though less warm than last week and the weeks before, yet very pleasant for an outdoor Thai Festival at this time of the year.

Inside the hedged partition on Driesplatz, there were stands surrounded along the edge of the field, mostly selling foods and desserts. There was only a double stand selling some imported Thai decorate goods,It’s Dana’s. She was at my “Thai Pride Cultural Evening” too, last March in Eygelshoven.Well, she is actually almost everywhere. I also met her at Amazing Thailand Bad Homburg last August.

Another two double stands, one for Thai traditional massage. That was what I had expected to see.Only what I found a bit pity was the front entrance of the shop not attractive enough to draw attention from the quests .However I noticed that their business was going on constantly that evening.

The other was for beverage, all kind of tropical cocktails were espicially outstanding popular beside those boring (weak) coffee and (dull) tea and of course, freshwater, not to mention about Beers. But talking about price of one cocktail, 6 chips charged, 1,40 euro paid for one chip...so one cocktail was in fact 8,40 euro each...exorbitantly expensive indeed ! But it's okay for this occasion.Well, we have to make it okay when we love to have some fun!

For the rest,as mentioned earlier, stands for various kinds of Thai food and desserts.
For some dishes you can certainly expect whenever Thai feast is held.Take Papaya salad or our well-known Somtam for example ,that's always accompanied with sticky rice without doubt.

I walked around to survey what they had to offer. There were Thai noodle soup, some dried-,prepared snacks like dried beef jerky, Isaan sausages, sour pork, and some other Isaan dishes,Thai Satay, fishcake for instance.

Apart from these, there were stands for Thai desserts; coconut cream jelly, sweet Thai crepe, sweet black sticky rice, sticky rice with custard and so forth.

After walked around, friends and I gathered at our table to enjoy those tasty meals and to sip Mai Tai or some other colorful arousing cocktails:Singapore sling,Blue Hawaiian or even “ sex on the beach” were also available.

As they say “ provision in season makes a rich house” ,we therefore bought not only some dried-,prepared snacks but also some Thai sweets back home to make sure we would have something Thai to eat the days after tomorrow.

The festival started at 2pm on Saturday, ended at 11pm.And on Sunday from 11am to 8pm.Moreover,there were shows on stage both days.Thai traditional dances and live music were absolutely indispensible.Last but not least, later in the evening there were cabaret performances. That´s the bonus and extravaganza talent of our Thai ladyboys !
