This “Schweins Haxe”, pork knuckle was one of
typical German dishes to be recommended when you are in Germany. It’s roasted
ham hock which is boiled and roasted later til it’s cryspy. It can be served
with potato purée or fried potatoes and red cabbage or sauerkraut (sour white cabbage) .
I was in Berlin recently with my Thai guests who were joining world congress in there working field.
This “Schweins Haxe” was one of those favorite dinner flavors among all of us. And I always recommend at least for one dinner meal. Of
course,instead of fried potatos,we,Thai , prefer to have rice with it. It would
be even better if some spicy sauce is at hand. But in case rice is not available,then
we would rather have French fired than the purée or the fried ones. Above all of this an extra plate of mixed salad is indispensable.
