It was
last week when I came back from long weekend in Germany and I found one of my
favorite wool sweater shrunk in the cloth dryer.I didn’t scream out with anger, wrath
or anything, instead I calmed down but inevitably,I felt dejected.I was tired of
the “lost” and I didn’t want it to happen again too soon after I
had consecutively lost already many things recently.I sighed wearily !
Can I bring this back to its original state ? After posting this on Facebook, friends commented mostly with “no way”! |
I took my
beloved wool sweater out of the dryer and held it close to my breast. I closed
my eyes,trying to empty my mind....at least...for a minute....
Suddenly
,a brilliant thought shone...
According
to Buddhist way,awareness causes intellect.
Let’s try
to make it possible...My sweater,at this point, in everyone’s eyes,was dead.If
I could bring it back to life,I would have it back.If not... at least ,I had
tried and at last I had to throw it away.
So let´s
give a try ! Fix it !
I did it
as following.
1. soaked
it for about half an hour in warm water with some shampoo.
Put it in warm water with some shampoo |
2.then tried
to pull and to strecht sleeves, collar and other parts back to its original
shape.
It
started to look better now.But not yet back to the good size so I repeated the
soak.
I left my
shrunk sweater in warm water once again for another half an hour, this time
instead of shampoo,I put hair conditioner in.
It was not yet back to the full size |
Half an
hour was gone, now I pulled and stretched, pulled and stretched. It was incredible
to have experienced this with my own eyes.It worked and I started to believe
that I would have this sweater again on me after this affort.I felt real good about it.
Stretched and pegged it on the towel |
Stretched every part and every conor |
Rolled it for half an hour so that it will be dried faster |
3. I
flattened the sweater on the towel, stretched and pegged on it.Let it dry
completely on there.I left it stretched over night and voila...here it is...I got it
back.I am happy and very proud to have brought my favorite wool back to life, though
not full size.
Unfortunately,I couldn't bring it back to full length
